When creating guides, course reserves, or any other pages on this site, use a view of this database instead of creating content cards just for that page, guide, or course reserve page alone. That way, if a content card is in need of updating, we can make the changes once and it will show up everywhere that content card appears on the site.
‣

What are content cards?

Content cards contain information about any individual, discrete resource or specific set of resources.

‣

What can go into a content card?

Information about any single open-access (OA) resource or set of OA resources that we wish to point to from somewhere on AVSL/AAO Resource Hub. Examples include:

  • eBook
  • database
  • website
  • videos/video sets
  • eJournal
‣

Which icon should I use for each type of content card?

You should use the icons available within Notion (second link, after Emojis). Choose from the following (search these exact names in the Icons search box):

  • Book closed for eBooks
  • Document for articles or uploaded files
  • Globe for websites
  • Newspaper for journals
  • Television play for videos/video sets
  • Phone smart for mobile apps
  • Extension for browser plugin
  • Database for databases
  • Photo for image/image sets
  • Headphones for audiobooks
  • Lightbulb for informational cards
  • Microphone for podcasts
  • Stethoscope for clinical reference tool topics
  • Eye for clinical practice guidelines
  • Clipboard for collections of case reports and case studies
  • Notion for a Notion template

Icon colors should be random, but if you are adding several resources of the same type, try to assign icon colors in general rainbow order (ROYGBIV, pink, brown). Do not use gray or light gray for icons.

‣

What information should I include in a content card?

There are a number of available fields in the content card template; not all of them will be useful for every type of content. At minimum, each card should contain at least a:

  • title
  • type of resource
  • subject
  • URL

Depending on the view, other fields may be visible; please complete these fields as needed. You can find more information about each field by hovering over the i information icon next to the field names.
